Our Mission and Vision
Global Change Academy is based on the vision that the new generations will be able to solve the complex problems of our society if the current generations provide them with the education to empower and prepare them for this mission.
With this in mind, Global Change Academy’s mission is to rethink and redesign education worldwide to empower all human beings with the competences and skills to navigate the complexity of our world.
Focusing on peace, sustainability and accessible education for all, the partnership works cohesively to define new pathways to decolonize education, rekindle the spark for learning in places where it has gone dim and empower the youth to establish a global sense of empathy and belonging through education.
Current Initiatives
All Global Change Academy initiatives are coordinated by partners from different parts of the world, ensuring a global perspective. All initiatives are dedicated to respond to one or more complex problems of our society.
Backpacks for Change
An initiative led by the Education for Peace network, in collaboration with all Global Change Academy working groups to bring education and science to children in conflict zones and refugee camps.
Equal Day
An annual event held on the equinox, when day and night are equal everywhere on Earth. It unites people across borders through stargazing and educational activities. As the stars shine on all equally, let us carry their light into our world, spreading a message of peace and equality across the Earth.
Galileo Teachers Training Program
An international teacher training program, created in the International Year of Astronomy 2009, that embraces the power of Astronomy to inspire change and development in education around the world.
Working Groups
Global Change Academy hosts several working groups, committed to acting on the most pressing issues of our modern world. All working groups are formed by transdisciplinary and diverse partnerships, working together towards the same global goals. Working Groups collaborate and exchange ideas, to ensure a coherent approach towards global change.
EDUCATION FOR PEACE NETWORK
A network dedicated to turning education and science accessible to all human beings, including those in current conflict zones and refugee camps, empowering children to be the change they want to see in the world.
DIGITAL TRANSITION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
A group dedicated to the development and implementation of projects that promote equitable access to digital technologies and the combination of digital innovation with green solutions to create resilient communities and sustainable societies.
SPACE EDUCATION FOR CHANGE
An international teacher training program that embraces the power of Astronomy and Space as drivers of change and development in education around the globe.
INTERNATIONAL OBSERVATORY FOR INNOVATION IN EDUCATION
A network dedicated to turning education accessible to all human beings, including those in current conflict zones and refugee camps, empowering children to be the change they want to see in the world.
GLOBAL EDUCATION NETWORK FOR SUSTAINABILITY
A network commited to tackling the current complexity around sustainability and in educating for sustainabole development goals. This network also focuses in ensuring a pathway for a coherent blend of the green and digital transitions in education.
GLOBAL HUMAN EQUITY COMMITTEE
A committee focusing on research and practice related to equity in education and education for human equity. The main current areas of action are “embracing diversity in education”, “gender equality” and “holistic integration of migrant students”.
