Equal Day

Equal Day is a global movement that promotes equality, peace, diversity, sustainability, and empathy through astronomy. Originating from a meeting of Mediterranean countries in Turkey, it grew from a gathering of National Astronomy Education Coordinators and astronomy clubs into a universal initiative with the message that the sky belongs to everyone.

Held on March 20th, the equinox, Equal Day symbolizes balance and unity, reminding us that day and night are equal everywhere on Earth. The event brings people together through stargazing and educational activities, using the vastness of the cosmos to highlight universal values: equality under the stars, peace through perspective, the beauty of diversity, the need for sustainability, and the power of empathy.

By looking up at the sky, Equal Day encourages us to see beyond our differences and recognize our shared humanity and responsibility for our planet.
