Galileo Teacher Training Program

A worldwide teacher training network
Galileo Teacher Training Program
The Galileo Teacher Training Program (GTTP) is a worldwide teacher training program coordinated by NUCLIO.
It was established as a legacy of the International Year of Astronomy 2009 (IYA2009) to improve science education by training teachers in the effective use of astronomy resources. Many freely available astronomy tools existed, but teachers often lacked the training to use them effectively in classrooms.
To address this, the International Astronomical Union collaborated with global organizations to develop GTTP, creating a worldwide network of Galileo Ambassadors (GA) and Galileo Teachers (GT). The program provides workshops, online training, and adaptable educational kits, benefiting both under-resourced regions and high-tech environments.
Since 2009, GTTP has trained over 70,000 teachers in more than 120 countries, fostering collaboration and deeper engagement with astronomy education worldwide.
